Â
On Sunday 24th March, we will be welcoming both Airdrie Harriers and Motherwell AC to GHS for this years NL Club Championships & Team North Lanarkshire Team Trials 🙂
About the Event Itself
This event will see Club Athletes from U11 – U17 from Cumbernauld AAC, Airdrie Harriers and Motherwell AC take part in a fun, relaxed atmosphere to compete in what will be their first outdoor Track and Field event of the year. 🙂
Each club athlete is allowed to compete in up to 3Â events within their age categories, with medals for top 3 overall performances in each event and the NL Club Shield for the best performing club on the day.
A copy of the Event Timetable is attached here; please remember that times are approximate, and that athletes should be there at least 1 hour before their first event. Â We would love all athletes to stay for the day to cheer on their teammates too.
Volunteers 🙂
We have had a fantastic response so far from our club coaches, officials, parents and athletes across all three clubs to help make this event happen – a BIG Thank You to you all – if you would like to help on the day and can spare an hour or two, please reach out to Lynsey Cooper, who has kindly agreed to co-ordinate all the volunteers for this year’s event.  Here is a current list as at 19/3/24:
Team North Lanarkshire Selection
As discussed with all the athletes at the club, this event will also be used to select Team North Lanarkshire Lower Age Group Team, (U13 & U15), to compete in the first meet of this year’s Youth Development League, (YDL), Division 1.
Those who are 1st and 2nd in their events will be put forward for selection for the first YDL Meet on Sunday 21st April 2024, which will be held at Grangemouth Athletics Stadium. Â Unfortunately, not all events are available at the first match, and so only athletes 1st and 2nd in the available events will be put forward initially. Â (Selection for the second and third match will be based on Power of 10 rankings.)Â If any athletes have any questions about team selection, please contact your coach for further information.
Last Final Bits
The current weather forecast is looking OK with the current plan for all events to be held outdoors 🙂, please ensure all athletes have warm and waterproof clothing with them though!
There will be no canteen inside the school for snacks, can all athletes please remember to bring something to eat in between events.
On behalf of all at the club, to all those club athletes competing on Sunday (especially those doing so for the first time), go and have fun! 🙂
