What happens during training sessions?

During our training sessions, we encourage all athletes to try all run, jump and throw activities as they develop, and our training sessions reflect this.

As you develop as an athlete, you may begin to specialise in certain events and our coaches will guide you in this process.

What should I wear/bring to training?

Please bring:

  • suitable running shoes
  • shorts or running leggings
  • a t-shirt or long-sleeved top
  • a fleece
  • a waterproof jacket (we train outside in all weathers!)
  • a bottle of water or still juice
  • hat and gloves if the weather’s cold

You can also buy our club kit at very reasonable prices – see our club kit page

How much does training cost?

Training costs £20.00 per month for two or more sessions per week, or £15 per month for one session per week.. We are a non-profit-making organisation and all our coaches and committee members are volunteers. All club fees go towards the running of the club.

There is also an annual membership fee of £10 per athlete (or £20 per family.)

Can I compete for the club?

Yes – the club competes all year round in track and field (indoors and outdoors), road running and cross-country. There are events for all age groups and abilities.

For some events the club will select teams, but there are many events that all athletes can enter.

We have very high levels of participation, and we actively encourage all athletes to represent the club when they can.
