Donna Wallace, Club FVL Administrator, Meet Report:

Thanks to everyone who competed for Cumbernauld AAC at one (or more) of the three Forth Valley League matches this season. Following the final match today, the points awarded over the three matches have been added up and I can now report that Cumbernauld AAC won the Division 2 Track, Division 2 Field and the overall Division 2 Winners shields.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED – you ALL contributed to the winning totals. We have now been promoted to Division 1.

For some of the athletes this was their first time competing, so I hoped you enjoyed the experience. It is fantastic to see all your hard work in training paying off with lots of great performances and PBs over the season. The results from today’s match are available via this link

Match 3 – https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2024/GBR/fvl-m3-d2/event/.

and just in case, you want to look back

Match 2 – https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2024/GBR/fvl-m2-d2/event/

Aidan was awarded the Cumbernauld AAC Athlete of the Match award.

I was also informed that we have broken two of the Forth Valley League records, but this is yet to be confirmed.

A huge Well Done to Fraser Pegrum in the U13B Discus. Fraser threw an amazing 27.29m (previous record was 19.82m).

Not to be outshone for the girls, Sophie Robertson threw 26.83m in the U15G Discus. (previous record 26.32).

Apologies, I do not any have photographs of Fraser & Sophie, or the other athletes competing today, but please share any you have taken via the closed Facebook Page. Some early official pictures are available on the Forth Valley League facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/qU7tRT7RrgBQDENd/

Some people had already left before the presentations took place and others had participated at the earlier matches and were not at Grangemouth today. Therefore, can I ask that you gather for a wider team photo with the shields on Monday & Thursday evenings this coming week at 6:45pm so the U11s who train at the early sessions can be included.

A special thanks also to our officials, coaches and volunteers who helped today:-

  • Donald Pegrum for being the overall team manager yet again, so that I could officiate on the field.
  • David Dillon, Kirsty Lawson, Diane Fraser and Sharon Keddie for assisting the officials. I can’t stress enough how valuable this is and how much we depend on parent volunteers so we can meet our league obligations in terms of volunteers. Without you, these events wouldn’t be able to happen so THANK YOU again.
  • Callum Ballantyne, who transferred to the Start Team at the last minute and played a vital role despite the challenges faced by the team today.
  • Euan Wallace for assisting Donald, warming up the athletes, taking them to events on time, coaching at High Jump etc.
  • The club coaches for preparing the athletes for the events.
