This Saturday, 4th November, sees the start of the transition from XC Relays to a series of XC races open to all age groups where the athketes run individually rather than as a team. Up first is the National Short Course  XC, which is opened to U15’s and above and will be held at Lanark Race Course in Lanark and this year the Club has athletes represented across all age groups

Meeting Arrangements
Can I please ask for all the Athletes to meet at the Club Tent at least 60mins before their event to pick up their numbers.

Please note: Parking is available on the blaze area on the LEFT as you enter the former Race Course estate. Further overflow parking is available at Lawrie & Symington off Hyndford Road opposite the course. Please park responsibly. 🙏🏻😊

Travelling to the Course
For those that haven’t been to course before, directions from Cumbernauld can be found here

Traffic through Lanark town centre is expected to be very congested. To avoid the congestion, athletes travelling from the West may wish to consider travelling through Carluke via A721, to Carstairs via A70, turning off to join Ayr Road (just before Ravenstruther) and following Ayr Road until the junction with Hyndford Road.

Athletes should note that roadworks are expected to be taking place on the A71 / Lanark Road / Garrion Bridge. This is expected to cause disruption. Athletes travelling via the M74 may wish to consider exiting at Junction 11 Happendon / Junction 12 Millbank, before travelling via the A70 / Lanark Road (passing Uddington and Rigside) to Hyndford Bridge.

@ Athletes – What to Bring with You
The current weather forecast looks perfect XC race conditions however we will have the Club Tent with us to leave your Club Clothing whilst you are running. Can I please ask all Athletes to please make sure you have the following with you:

– Club Vest, Shorts and four pins;
– Long sleeved Top, Club hoodie, and Joggies;
– Hat, gloves, warm Jacket and trousers and towel;
– Running Flats + Trail Shoes/ Spikes;
– Black bin bag to put your race clothing and running shoes into after the race, which your parents will thank you for 😉
– Snack with a non fizzy isotonic drink.
